Why Linking.getInitialUrl and addEventListener result is different between IOS and Android?
I try to send a url to boot up the app.
I have set up the environment for Linking.
In android I set the code in AndroidManifest.xml:
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE" />
<data android:scheme="mychat" android:host="mychat" />
</intent-filter>
In IOS I set the code in AppDelegate.m:
// Add this above the `@end`:
// iOS 9.x or newer
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application
openURL:(NSURL *)url
options:(NSDictionary<UIApplicationOpenURLOptionsKey,id> *)options
{
return [RCTLinkingManager application:application openURL:url options:options];
}
And set URL Types:
In my React Native code about Linking:
componentDidMount () {
Linking.getInitialURL().then(url => {
if (url) {
console.log('Initial url is:', url);
}
}).catch(err => console.log('error is:', err));
Linking.addEventListener('url', this._handleOpenURL);
}
componentWillUnmount() {
Linking.removeEventListener('url', this._handleOpenURL);
}
_handleOpenURL(event) {
console.log(event.url);
}
Situation on IOS:
I type the command xcrun simctl openurl booted mychat://chat
Get the result is mychat://chat
that comes from _handleOpenUrl
method.
Situation on Android:
I type the command adb shell am start -W -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d "mychat://mychat/chat" com.testan3
Get the result is Initial url is: mychat://mychat/chat
that comes from Linking.getInitialURL()
So why Linking.getInitialURL()
only work on Android and Linking.addEventListener
only work on IOS ?
I have no idea why it is different. Any help would be appreciated.
