I'm trying to create a map where I can update the moving marker based on the date in a spreadsheet. I have the code below

function update() {
// if not today, then stick data in corner and hide

d3.csv("static/data/wakool.csv", function(data) {
//returns an array of arrays [[array1], [array2]...[arrayn]]
var latlongs = data.map(function(d) { return [d.Lat,d.Lng].map(Number); });

})

feature.attr("transform",
function(d) {
if (d.day == timerCount) {
d3.csv("static/data/wakool.csv", function(data) {
//returns an array of arrays [[array1], [array2]...[arrayn]]
var latlongs = data.map(function(d) { return [d.Lat,d.Lng].map(Number); });
console.log(latlongs);
var marker3 = L.Marker.movingMarker(latlongs.slice(1,5000),
30000, {autostart: true, loop: true}).addTo(map);
})
d3.select("#monthLabel").text("Date: " + d.Date);

return "translate("+
map.latLngToLayerPoint(d.LatLng).x +","+
map.latLngToLayerPoint(d.LatLng).y +")";
} else {
return "translate(0,0)";
}
}
);

When I run the full code (please let me know if you need the full code), I can see that new moving markers are created if d.day (from spreadsheet) matches the timerCount. I'm looking for a way to have a marker originally that gets updated to take new coordinates and move to that path when the timer ticks rather than create a new marker every time d.day == timerCount. So the code for marker3 should be variable to take slice(x,y) from wakool.csv data file and should update itself based on whether the day matches with the timerCount.

Please let me know if more detail is needed.

  • I am not sure where is taken marker3. But you can update by marker3.setLatLng(location);
