Convert web.xml 2.5 project to springboot java config

I am trying to convert web.xml to java configuration and i am unable to do so as i remove web.xml, i get an error in tomcat as web.xml not found. how do i go with this?

In spring MVC you need to do lots of stuff like configuring web.xml, dispatcher-servlet.xml etc... But in spring boot you don't need to configure this. Spring boot automatically handle this. You don't need to configure mapping. Just need to write controller. I think it will be better if you initialize a new spring boot project and do all the stuff according to your requirements.
